How to manage Google Business Profiles without losing your mind

Running one Google Business Profile? Easy.
Running fifty? Painful.
Running hundreds? Congratulations—you now work for Google support.

Elizabeth Rule shared a playbook for managing GBPs at scale without burning half your week. Here’s the breakdown:

Start with access control.
Always verify listings with a domain-level email—it signals legitimacy. Set one main domain email as the primary owner and another as a backup. Everyone else gets grouped access through business groups. Never hand out individual logins like candy.

If you’ve got 10+ storefronts, use bulk verification.
Submit proof (utility bills, business licenses, etc.) for each address once, and future locations get verified automatically. Just know Google can still re-verify anytime, so keep those docs handy.

Stay alert. Literally.
Turn on email alerts for proposed edits. Both Google and random users can suggest updates, and they’re not always right. Your website is Google’s “source of truth,” so make sure your name, address, and phone number (NAP) are identical everywhere.

Create a hub page.
Add a central page listing all your locations with matching info and photos that actually reflect reality. Inconsistency here is the fastest way to get flagged—or worse, suspended.

If you use call tracking, do it smartly.
Assign a unique tracking number to each location, but list it as a secondary number in GBP. Keep the primary consistent across all platforms to avoid confusion.

Bottom line: when your GBPs are a mess, your visibility tanks. But with a tight permission system, bulk verification, and consistent data, managing at scale stops being chaos and starts feeling like control.

OpenAI turns ChatGPT into a full-blown operating system

At Dev Day 2025, OpenAI basically announced that ChatGPT is no longer just a chatbot — it’s now an app platform, an agent builder, and a developer ecosystem rolled into one. Think less “search box,” more “AI operating system.”

Here’s what dropped:

  • Apps inside ChatGPT. Users can now run, chat with, and even build apps directly inside ChatGPT using the new Apps SDK. Early integrations include Canva, Figma, Spotify, and Zillow — all launching as native, in-chat experiences. Monetization tools and a dedicated App Store are coming later this year.
  • AgentKit. A new suite of tools for building custom AI agents: visual workflow builder, embeddable chat components, evaluation tools, and connectors. Basically, everything you’d need to spin up your own GPT-powered product without touching a line of code.
  • GPT-5 Codex goes GA. The dev-favorite coding model now has a Slack integration, an SDK for embedding in workflows, and admin controls for enterprise rollouts.
  • Expanded APIs. Developers get access to GPT-5 Pro for complex reasoning, Sora 2 for generative video, and a new gpt-realtime-mini voice model that’s 70% cheaper than before.

Why it matters:
OpenAI just turned ChatGPT into the new browser. Instead of opening 10 tabs, you’ll just call up the app or workflow you need inside the chat. It’s a direct play against Zapier, n8n, and every no-code automation tool out there — and it might just redefine how we interact with software altogether.
